Background/Experience that you think is beneficial to Doula work: Teacher for 17 years, custodian, extensive travel abroad, extensive study of culture

What led you to become a Doula?: I have always had a love of serving and helping people. After 17 years of teaching, I decided to help families in a different way. I also had a family member struggle with her birth experience. I have great passion for helping parents to create a positive birth experience for themselves.

What are some positive comments made about you by other people?:

Christi is a very caring, loving, and supportive person. Christi knew what I needed before I knew what I needed. Christi is compassionate. Christi is able to be respectful of our cultural differences, which makes us more comfortable. Christi is a quick learner and is able to apply what she learns to any situation.

What thoughts come to mind when you see a pregnant woman or brand new mom?: Does she have the support she needs and wants? Does her partner know how to support her the way she wants? Is it possible that I can help her achieve her goals and desires? How can I help her?

What is the best gift you can give a new mom (as a Doula)?: Non-judgmental support in her decisions as a parent. Reassurance that she is doing the best she knows how and if she is struggling in anyway provide resources to help her.

What is your favorite TV show or movie?: Survivor (TV series) The Passion (movie)

What is your favorite place to vacation?: Disneyland or Leavenworth

What is your favorite food?: My favorite food is a tie: Pizza and ice cream

What is your favorite way to spend a day off?: Go to the dog park, go to the spa, go out with kids/friends to the movies, draw, paint, or read.

Who lives in your house?: My two beautiful children, Michael (15) and Catherine (11) and our Pomeranian/Yorkie terrier Marmaduke.
