Background/Experience that you think is beneficial to Doula work: I have three children, one by love and two by birth. I am an active breastfeeding peer counselor at Betty Cameron. I have been working as a postpartum doula since January 2016 and a labor doula since October 2017. I am also currently working towards sitting for the IBCLC in 2020.
What led you to become a Doula?: After the birth of my youngest child, I realized that my job as a teacher did not fill my soul. My passion rested in the beautiful experience of adding a new human life to a family. To walk that journey along-side new parents and watch them transform is amazing.
What are some positive comments made about you by other people?:
So positive and outgoing. Gives me the confidence to get through the tough times. Loves her family and loves to have a good time.
What are your favorite pregnancy/parenting resources?: My local network of professionals, fellow birth workers, ProDoula and KellyMom.com
What thoughts come to mind when you see a pregnant woman or brand new mom?: There are so many beautiful things about becoming a parent or adding a new baby to the family. I always hope they know of all the amazing support and resources available to help them succeed!
What is the best gift you can give a new mom (as a Doula)?: The best gifts you can give new parents are Confidence, reassurance, and sleep!
What is your favorite TV show or movie?: Friends & NCIS, Clueless
What is your favorite place to vacation?: New adventures with my husband!
What is your favorite food?: Thai Food
What is your favorite way to spend a day off?: On the beach with my family! We drive out on the north-end of Carolina Beach and stay until the sun goes down!
Who lives in your house?: My husband Web, My children Kai, Maia and Emma and my two dogs Daisy and Hendrix!
