Background/Experience that you think is beneficial to Doula work:

What led you to become a Doula?: I had a doula present at the birth of my son in 2018, and because of that experience, my eyes have been opened to the wonderful world of doula-ing. It is an incredible feeling having someone beside you every step of the way supporting you and your choices, without having any sort of an agenda or bias. Advice from every other mother you know in your life really starts to pour in at an overwhelming speed when you become pregnant, so having the support of someone saying things like "How are you feeling today, would you like more information on that, please let me know if you have any questions night or day" is nothing short of a relief. My goal as a doula is more than what doulas do – help alleviate fear around childbirth and to ease the transition from pregnancy into parenthood. My goal is to empower birthing persons by helping them to find their voice throughout pregnancy, and to set them up for success in the early stages of parenthood.
