Background/Experience that you think is beneficial to Doula work: I had my own home birth with my second child, and the knowledge I gained from the experience as well as with my labor doula training has prepared me to be beneficial to new mothers.
What led you to become a Doula?: During my second pregnancy, I wanted to gain as much knowledge as I could about everything birth. I soon realized it was more than just for my pregnancy, but something I was very passionate about being a part of. After my own home birth it solidified my desire to be a part of the birth work community, and serve families during this transformative part of life.
What are some positive comments made about you by other people?:
I have always been known as the person anyone could talk to when they needed someone. I’ve been told that I go above and beyond to help others when they need it.
What are your favorite pregnancy/parenting resources?: I love a good podcast, and a few great ones are The Birth Hour, Birthful, and The Fourth Trimester Podcast. Other great resources are Evidence Based Birth and Spinning Babies
What thoughts come to mind when you see a pregnant woman or brand new mom?: I get very excited! New life is so exciting, and I wonder the kind of pregnancy journey they’ve already experienced and plan to have.
What is the best gift you can give a new mom (as a Doula)?: My best gift is to be a calming presence for your family, as well as someone that gives you confidence to have the birth you envision. To ask me to be a part of such a transitional part of life, I hope to honor your sacred journey and show you just how capable you really are!
What is your favorite TV show or movie?: My favorite tv show is Vampire Diaries and I’d have to say my favorite movies are the entire Harry Potter series
What is your favorite place to vacation?: Port Aransas, Texas or basically anywhere on the beach
What is your favorite food?: Sushi and White queso. Not together though!
What is your favorite way to spend a day off?: I enjoy spending time with my kids making things or playing games, and I love spending extra time in my garden in my free time.
Who lives in your house?: Myself and my husband Seann, our son Trystin and daughter Sayler, a blue heeler named Marni and a Maine coon named Kiki, and a wide collection of house plants.
