Background/Experience that you think is beneficial to Doula work: My undergrad degree is in Journalism. This background gave me the ability to listen well and to be unbiased. They are much needed skills in this line of work.
What led you to become a Doula?: Giving birth changed me forever. I was called to be a Doula after hiring Doulas for my second birth.

What are your favorite pregnancy/parenting resources?: I love Kellymom.com for breastfeeding questions. I am a big fan of the journal “Sacred Pregnancy” by Anni Daulter as a mindfulness resource during pregnancy.
What thoughts come to mind when you see a pregnant woman or brand new mom?: I want to give them a big hug and ask them how they are doing. People are more concerned about the baby than they are about the mom. That needs to change.
What is the best gift you can give a new mom (as a Doula)?: I give new moms my undivided attention while they tell me their birth story. It is important to be fully heard.
What is your favorite TV show or movie?: The West Wing will always be my favorite as I used to work in politics. Mad Men would be a close second.
What is your favorite place to vacation?: Any warm beach will do for me. The winters are long in Michigan.
What is your favorite food?: Peanut Curry Thai
What is your favorite way to spend a day off?: Listening to live music with my husband and going for a long walk with him.
Who lives in your house?: My husband, our two young children and his daughter is with us part of the time.
