Professional Lifetime Certification

Meet Your ProDoula

Background/Experience that you think is beneficial to Doula work: I've taken part in a number of trainings and certifications to expand my knowledge of birth support, physiological care, emotional support, and to educate myself on the sociological forces that can impact each person's birth. I am certified through ProDoula and have completed a DONA approved workshop. I've attended both Spinning Babies and Body Ready Method workshops. I am also a Certified Lactation Counselor and actively maintain current breastfeeding knowledge. I was fortunate to be able to shadow at Breath of Life Birth Center in Largo, Florida. I am always looking for new learning opportunities! I have had multiple births of my own, including birthing for a family as a surrogate/gestational carrier. I have worked in healthcare for over ten years. I let these experiences help inform my overall view of birth and the need for layers of support in the perinatal and postpartum periods.

What led you to become a Doula?: My own experience with birth was the introduction I needed to birth work! I admit I had my own ideas of what I wanted my births to look like even in the hospital, and after my first birth realized I could've used a bit more help, support, and advocacy. I started my doula training with the idea that I would be able to help people have the birth they wanted in the hospital environment and came out of it feeling confident in supporting birth in numerous ways. I've gained an appreciation for all types of birth, no matter the who, where, or how! I often say becoming a parent was the hardest thing I've ever done, but also the most rewarding. This experience inspired me to first become a surrogate to help others achieve their goals of parenthood. I learned an appreciation and passion for childbirth, and would love to help others have the birth that makes them feel good about their experience and brings them confidence in themselves.

What are some positive comments made about you by other people?:

In regard to birth work, I’ve been called passionate and knowledgeable. Professionally, by my peers, I’ve been called the “mom” of the group, making sure everyone’s needs are met, taking charge when needed, but supporting my team in whatever way is needed! I’ve been commended on mentorship and advocacy, two skills I’ve worked to develop in other aspects of my life and hope to humbly bring to my birth work.
