Meet Your ProDoula

Background/Experience that you think is beneficial to Doula work: Lexi has her experience of birthing, breastfeeding, and raising her son along with countless years of experience nannying kids of all ages. Lexi has worked as a Preschool teacher, Kindergarten teacher, and foster care provider. Each profession has helped her develop a deep empathy for caring for others.

What led you to become a Doula?: Lexi is a single mom who dreamt of becoming a doula for many years! While putting her son first and dreams of a career as a doula second, she spent much of her time listening to labor and delivery podcasts, reading midwifery books, and researching all things pregnancy, labor, and postpartum. When her son turned 5 and began Kindergarten, Lexi decided it was time to focus on her career goals and put her dreams of becoming a doula into action! Within just one month, Lexi became certified as both a labor doula and as a postpartum and infant care doula. Upon doing so she immediately began making connections in her local area and was hired on as an independent contractor at Metro Detroit Doula Services.

What are some positive comments made about you by other people?:

Several of Lexi’s friends asked that she follow her dream to become a doula in order that she might care for them in their coming pregnancies.
