Background/Experience that you think is beneficial to Doula work: I am CPR certified and have had many different birth experiences myself that I think will help me relate to and be of great service to birthing families in any way that they decide to give birth! I am always trying to expand my education and will continue to learn and grow in the birth world.
What led you to become a Doula?: What led me to become interested in birth work was seeing how many women are terrified of birth. Birth can be a very intimate and sacred experience and I hope to help improve the outlook on birth and help more families have positive and beautiful birth experiences. I have always been a support system for my mother and friends during their pregnancies, labor, birth, and postpartum!
What are some positive comments made about you by other people?:
I have been told that I am very loving, giving, patient, optimistic, and passionate.
What are your favorite pregnancy/parenting resources?: My favorite pregnancy and parenting resources are kellymom.com and evidencebasedbirth.com. Two easy websites with a lot of good and helpful information. I also love the books The Birth Partner by Penny Simkin and Expecting Better by Emily Oster.
What thoughts come to mind when you see a pregnant woman or brand new mom?: My first thought when I see a pregnant person or someone with a brand new baby is wondering how they are feeling. How do they feel during their pregnancy, or newly postpartum? Do they have the support that they need? I want to help them and be there for them both physically and emotionally, or in any way that they need it.
What is the best gift you can give a new mom (as a Doula)?: As a birth worker I strive to help birthing families have more positive birth experiences. I want to help educate and leave families feeling empowered by their birth experience, no matter what that might look like to them.
What is your favorite TV show or movie?: I have four kids - I don’t have time for tv! Lol
What is your favorite place to vacation?: Camping at Twin Lakes
What is your favorite food?: Hungarian Chicken and Dumplings.
What is your favorite way to spend a day off?: I love spending my day off with my family exploring, adventuring, learning, and growing together.
Who lives in your house?: My husband, our four children, and our 6 backyard chickens!
