Meet Your ProDoula
Background/Experience that you think is beneficial to Doula work: I have assisted many people during their labor and deliveries, even before my official Doula title. I have delivered 3 babies, 2 of my own and 1 surrogate baby. I have experienced both natural, unmedicated birth center births, as well as hospital births with unplanned interventions.
What led you to become a Doula?: Having a mother who is a birth worker, and has been for 4 decades, I have been immersed in the birth world for as long as I can remember. I remember watching my mom teach childbirth education classes as a very young child and thinking how interesting it was and how much I would love to do the same thing. When I became a young adult, I had some very close friends who allowed me to be a part of their birth experience for their first born and the passion ignited.
What are some positive comments made about you by other people?:
I am empathetic, supportive, caring, thoughtful, encouraging, knowledgeable and dare I even say, humorous!
