Background/Experience that you think is beneficial to Doula work: When I had my baby, I didn’t know anything! Anything about labor, birth, the postpartum period, babies absolutely nothing. I want to be that source of information for new parents.
What led you to become a Doula?: I was amazed at how well my body grew a baby, birthed a bag and fed a baby. I wanted to know as much as possible about how to educate other birthing people with the way the human body works.
What are some positive comments made about you by other people?:
That I’m very caring, loyal and trustworthy. When I’m in, it’s 1000%. If this is the course of action that will make you feel the best, then let’s do this!
What are your favorite pregnancy/parenting resources?: Ina May Gaskin Guide to Childbirth Gena Kirby Rebozo Class What to expect the first year
What thoughts come to mind when you see a pregnant woman or brand new mom?: A pregnant person brings me joy and excitement. They are growing a life and living their life. I’m excited for them to have the birth they want. For a family with a new baby, compassion and excitement. What a great time, learning about baby and being a family together. So much love in a home with a new baby.
What is the best gift you can give a new mom (as a Doula)?: Piece of mind. It can be a struggle for new parents to learn how to be a parent, how to take care of a baby and still be themselves. My wish is for new parents to know they are good parents, that trust their gut and that they have the best information for the future.
What is your favorite TV show or movie?: ER
What is your favorite place to vacation?: Anything warm, humid and by the beach!
What is your favorite food?: Italian
What is your favorite way to spend a day off?: Either hanging out with my family, watching a movie and getting dinner or hanging out with my close friends, playing soccer, hiking and eating!
Who lives in your house?: My wife, Kimberly, and our daughter Shay. Along with two dogs and four cats.
