Meet Your ProDoula
Background/Experience that you think is beneficial to Doula work: Though new to the title of Postpartum Doula, it warms my soul to finally have a professional label for my passion - providing nonjudgmental support and care to families and little ones. For over a decade I have been a self-employed private nanny to many families from FL, to HI, and now in the NC community. I recently dipped my toe in the corporate pool, working for an academic library company for two years. Although their work is wildly important, I was quickly humbled and reminded that my purpose lies with working directly with others in a live, family environment. I am deeply excited to continue my education with ProDoula, with my sights set on Labor Doula & Childbirth Educator certifications next! My own journey with birth and postpartum covers a range of challenging and rewarding moments - from things going "as planned"... then not at all, and having to learn the ins and outs of a NICU experience. What I have gathered through it all - a birthing body is wildly powerful! And enough emphasis cannot be placed on the importance of compassionate support before, durning, and after birth.
What led you to become a Doula?: Since youth, I have always gravitated to nurturing roles in my friendships and employment opportunities. I fill my cup by taking care of others! I am at my best when I am making a positive difference in someone's life - bonus points when the environment is a vulnerable one :) I am ready to take my passions to the next level and further serve my community. Working as a birth professional will unlock so many positive and fulfilling relationships and opportunities!
What are some positive comments made about you by other people?:
I have been told that I have a calming and intuitive energy. Others have shared their appreciation for my listening skills and encouraging feedback. My reliability and willingness to learn, with an open-mind, in new settings has been highlighted by previous friends and employers.
