Meet Your Doula Trainer

When the time came for Sarah to decide on a career path after college, she knew that she wanted to continue to use the skills she had been honing her entire life as a babysitter and nanny but was unsure how to do it. After an impromptu meeting with a doula, Sarah knew exactly what she was meant to do.

Sarah found ProDoula while searching for an organization that aligned with her values and beliefs in business and beyond. As a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, Sarah was immediately drawn in by the inclusion and empathy ProDoula offered to parents in all walks of life. After training with ProDoula, Sarah was equipped with not only the skills to provide evidence-based and non-judgemental support to clients through pregnancy, birth, and early parenting but also the knowledge to run a sustainable business.

The seismic shift these trainings created in Sarah’s personal and professional lives inspired her to become a member of the ProDoula Training and Development Team. Training doulas to support the parents and parents-to-be in their communities with the innovative and robust curriculum ProDoula offers is an honor that Sarah holds in high regard. As a subject matter expert in parenting philosophies, Sarah values the importance of training new doulas to understand the options and motivations behind choices that parents are faced with and walking beside them without judgment or bias.

Today, Sarah lives in Durham, North Carolina where she works with families via postpartum & infant care doula support, childbirth education, and placenta encapsulation. She enjoys exploring the city with her friends, going to farmers markets, and spending time with her menace of a cat, Luna.
