Meet Your Doula Trainer
Sarah is originally from London, England and has called Washington State home for over 30 yrs. She loves the city, but lives to spend time on the water and in the mountains of the Pacific Northwest with her family.
The Doula vocation emerged for Sarah after being a case-management for some of the strongest families she has ever met who were going through family reunification and rehoming. She came to see that her skills for connection, education, listening, and elevating the human condition were much better suited to prenatal, labor and postpartum family support. Doula work is her life-calling! She is excited to both learn from the lived experiences of adult learners, and immerse the doula-learner in evidence-based client centered care; encouraging exceptional doulas ready to serve their communities.
She is the owner of The Very Best Doulas, one of the newest Agencies in the Pacific Northwest corner from Seattle to Bellingham, and supports client families across 4 counties. Normalizing and educating on Perinatal Mental Health is a huge focus of Sarah’s commitment to maternal and child wellbeing, and a frequent testimonial of many clients regarding self-care and bonding with their baby(ies) and partners, and the way she gives power back to their needs and choices. Sarah is a member of the Perinatal Mental Health Task force of Whatcom County, and has advisory involvement in the WA State Dept of Health, Health and Birth Equity Projects.
Sarah has been an educator and facilitator most of her professional career. Beginning in sales & customer service training large employee groups, then moving into community outreach body positivity programming and family reconciliation skills training for women and children. She has a B.A. in Leadership with an emphasis on Women Entrepreneurship and is always the first to say “I believe in you!” She wrote the training program, and is the Program Coordinator for Postpartum Doulas on shift in the largest Seattle hospital. Her passion for education is continuous and she often takes leaps of faith to build the next bridge for self and others toward opportunity.
