Background/Experience that you think is beneficial to Doula work: I have been around pregnancies, newborns, and children since I was 16 years old and always loved it! I have also had my own fair share of less than normal pregnancies and births with my own three children.
What led you to become a Doula?: I had my own hard pregnancies and births that I believe could have been so much better and more enjoyable had I had someone there to tell me some of what I might expect and to hold my hand through the extra hard times that I didn’t know weren’t completely abnormal. I want to help others have the birth experience that they want!
What are some positive comments made about you by other people?:
Others have said that I am very easy to talk to and always put others before myself. Also, that I have a big heart that always wants to give to others.
What are your favorite pregnancy/parenting resources?: The Informed Parent
What thoughts come to mind when you see a pregnant woman or brand new mom?: I can’t help but think about what amazing adventures she is going through now and the ones she has yet to go through! I wish I could share all my knowledge and support with everyone going through this incredible time in their lives.
What is the best gift you can give a new mom (as a Doula)?: The best gift to give a new mom as a birth worker is unwavering and non-judgmental support! Nothing is more important than knowing that you have someone who is always on your side when going through a change as big as one becoming a new parent.
What is your favorite TV show or movie?: New Girl, Supernatural, Gilmore Girls, and Friends are my go-to shows when looking for something to keep my brain occupied.
What is your favorite place to vacation?: Florida! My husband and I went there on our “babymoon” before we had our first child, and I dream about it often.
What is your favorite food?: Pasta, pasta and more pasta!
What is your favorite way to spend a day off?: If I had it my way, I would lay in bed all day and watch sappy movies while someone brought me endless food from Jonny Carino’s!
Who lives in your house?: Me, my husband, and our three boys! I am a boy-mom, through and through!
