I Question Your Support
WHO, WHAT, WHEN OR WHY?
Imagine how much we could learn about our clients if we asked them to put these 4 questions in order of importance regarding their birth!
Who is going to be at my birth? You of course, your partner? Your mom? Your bff? Which doctor? Which midwife? Which nurse?
What will be the first sign of labor? What day will I have the baby? What will they do to induce me? What if I don’t know I’m in labor? What do contractions feel like? What if my water breaks?
When will I go into labor? When should I go to the hospital? When will they do a vaginal exam? When can I get the epidural? When will I meet my baby? When should my family come? When can I start breastfeeding?
Why do I need that prenatal test? Why do they have to monitor me? Why do they have to do cervical exams? Why can’t I go in the tub? Why do they want to induce me? Why do I need an IV? Why do they have to draw my blood?
Consider how the support you’d provide would vary based on their responses.
